About me
Hello!
My name is Madison, and I am a professional ballet dancer with the English National Ballet. This is my first blog post ever, so I thought I’d start by introducing myself.
I grew up in sunny Queensland, Australia, and have been dancing since I was three years old. My mum took me to dance classes because I just couldn’t keep still at home. My love for dance really stemmed from a deep love of music. I trained in Australia until I was sixteen when I moved to Germany to join the Hamburg Ballet School. After a year in Hamburg, I moved to London to continue my training at the English National Ballet School, where I spent two more years. In 2017, I graduated from ENBS with a Level 6 Diploma in Dance from Trinity College.
I began my professional career with the Semperoper Ballet in Dresden, Germany, where I spent the last seven years dancing a wide range of classical, neo-classical, and modern works by various choreographers. In August 2024, I returned to London to join the English National Ballet as a first artist.
A few years ago, I started thinking about my future beyond performing, which led me to pursue a BA in Professional Arts Practice at Middlesex University. After over twenty years of ballet, I felt it was important to take a step back, reflect, and explore what my path might look like after my dancing career. While I’m not ready to stop dancing yet, I am eager to develop my academic skills outside the familiar environments of the studio and stage.
My goal within the framework of this program is to learn about myself and my practice through reflection, discussion and exploration. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone on Zoom at some point soon!
